The Building Blocks of AWS: Availability Zones and Regions
- AWS Global Infrastructure consists of Regions and Availability Zones
- A Region is a physical location in the world with 2 or more Availability Zones
- An Availability Zone is 1 or more data centers within a certain distance
- Edge locations are endpoints for caching content, used for CloudFront
- AWS Management Console has many service types, but only a few are needed to pass the exam
- Service types needed to pass the exam include compute, storage and databases, migration and transfer, network and content delivery, management and governance, analytics, security, identity and compliance, application integration, AWS cost management, and containers.
